Barry Bonds: Before and After

Last night, Barry Bonds hit his 756th home run to break Hank Aaron's record.

Now as I've said before, I'm not opposed to the rampant use of performance-enhancing drugs. And Barry Bonds is still a magnificent athlete, no matter what anyone may ever say about him and his record.

It's just a shame that he had to lie about his steroid use, and that everyone else in baseball had to pretend to believe him and try to keep a straight face for so long. The man has all of the form of plausible deniability, with none of the substance. He would have been a great player even without the 'roids, and somehow people in baseball would have felt a little bit cleaner.
